What We Do
Validate & Certify
A key piece of character development is assessing and adjusting initiatives to keep growing. With The 11 Principles of Character as our guide, Character.org serves as an unbiased evaluator to validate your efforts and offer coaching for next steps.
Schools of Character
For over 20 years, Character.org has evaluated and certified character initiatives in schools through National and State Schools (and Districts) of Character. In a rigorous application and review process, schools must demonstrate successful implementation of all 11 Principles for the entire school community. We score the application, highlight the school’s strengths and offer suggestions for improvement.
Promising Practices
We evaluate and certify unique best practices based on the 11 Principles in schools, sports, higher education and other areas. These practices serve as valuable resources for others just getting started in their journey.

Empower Communities
You can’t create Communities of Character alone. That’s why Character.org creates and curates the resources you need to get started and provides the network of support to help you reach your goals.
Character Exchange
Character.org now hosts the complete 11 Principles of Character, examples, a discussion board and other resources all on the Character Exchange. Share your own best practices and questions while exploring ideas from your peers.
Workshops
We offer a variety of 11 Principles workshop options for those who want national coaches to come to you and your team. Workshops are great for a deep dive into the 11 Principles and as a way to start planning next steps with the whole team.

National Forum
The Character.org National Forum has brought together researchers, educators, parents and other community leaders for more than 25 years now with no sign of stopping. While most attend the National Forum for the resources or to celebrate a certification, they remember the Forum because of the connections they made.
